Solace is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, passionate developer advocate. If you are a coder who likes talking to other developers, learning, and teaching, building cool demos and prototypes, and are excited by new technology, we would love to hear from you.


At Solace, our developer advocates wear many hats to achieve our ultimate goal of having the best developer experience possible. In this role, you’ll foster and build networks with developers, DevOps, engineering managers, account teams, and more. You will work closely with our community management, engineering, marketing, and product teams to create and enhance our developer-focused content, participate in our developer community, and provide feedback to continuously improve our technology itself.


We don’t just want someone who will bounce from event to event parroting the same message. We want someone who can really understand the needs of our audience, serve them, and build a relationship. New and prospective customers and community members will depend on you to help them truly understand the value we offer, and how they can harness it with hands-on use of our platform. This work will play a critical role in the broader success of the company.

In This Role, You Will

  • Join our team of Dev Advocates in the Solace CTO office to improve the Solace Developer Experience & raise awareness of Solace technology.
  • Create & enhance developer-focused content that is used by thousands of developers to help solve their problems and teach them how to use our products, such as:
  • Promote & Raise awareness of Solace technology
    • Participate in the Solace Developer Community to provide engagement and outreach to developers using our technology
    • Travel to speak at conferences, developer workshops, meetups, customer meetings, and more. (Once we get past the COVID-19 pandemic) 
    • Build relationships within the enterprise developer community to provide opportunities for Solace to collaborate with and learn from the industry.
    • Work with marketing to integrate company brand, voice, and messaging into developed content and represent the Solace brand well.
  • As part of the CTO team, you’ll also
  • Understand and evolve Solace’s value proposition, competitors, use cases, and market opportunities  
  • Be the first to try out, provide feedback and demonstrate new Solace features
  • Research the latest greatest event-driven patterns and best practices
  • Create new and innovative patterns and best practices
  • Always challenge our assumptions and culture. You will be the liaison for Solace Developers and ensure the voice of Solace developers is heard throughout the organization.

What You Need to Get the Job Done

  • You’re a Developer!
    • Passion for learning & experimenting with new technologies
    • 7+ years of experience in software development – writing and debugging a lot of code
    • Experience developing software in several of these languages: Java, Python, Node.js, JavaScript, .NET, Go, C, and their related development toolchain
    • Experience with cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, GCP and their services; Kubernetes, Cloud Foundry, OpenShift
    • Ideally experience with messaging products such as Solace, RabbitMQ, ActiveMQ, Kafka, TIBCO, IBM MQ, or other
    • Experience with distributed applications and microservices
  • You’re a Communicator!
    • Excellent public speaking, writing, blogging, and content development skills.
    • Ability to navigate complex and sensitive community situations with humility, judgment, tact, and humor.
    • Ability to explain what made your life easy and what didn’t as a developer
    • Comfortable using social media such as Twitter & LinkedIn
    • A team player who can work with a globally distributed team.


What Will Make Us REALLY Love you

  • Bi or Tri-Lingual (English, French, German)
  • Experience in developer relations and advocacy
  • Experience using JMS, MQTT, AMQP, STOMP, Websockets, rsocket/grpc, or other messaging protocols/apis
  • Experience using AsyncAPI, OpenAPI/Swagger, and/or API Management Tools
  • Experience using java frameworks/runtimes such as Spring, Quarkus or Micronaut
  • Existing networks from a diverse set of communities and social media platforms.
  • Media training and experience in communicating with journalists, bloggers, and other media on a range of technical topics.
