Overview

Solace is looking for technical course developers and technical instructional designers who have a versatile skillset to create effective e-learning courses and certifications for our Solace.

Many organizations are rapidly adopting Event Driven Architectures to digitally transform their businesses, and Solace’s PubSub+ Platform is a key player and enabler for businesses to become event driven. But for our customers to use our products effectively for their event-driven journey, they need training that can be taken and consumed in bite-size and on-demand on a continuous basis, regardless of where they are located.

 

Solace is expanding its e-learning solutions with extensive hands-on labs, videos and simulations that get customers deep into our platform and technologies. You’ll get to teach and have some fun at the same time! The qualified candidate will have excellent writing skills, a healthy technical knowledge of IT domains, and the ability to translate technical content into easy-to-understand hands-on exercises and compose architecture diagrams. Above all, you will have a passion for learning.

 

The Cool Stuff You’ll Do  

• Diving daily into the Solace Academy LMS, you manage our customer and partner e-learning courses. You know what content is hot (or not), our user and certification metrics, and how to direct fellow Solacians and clients based on their role and requirements.
• Weekly, with an eye on the product pipeline and an ear on field deployment stories, you transform raw knowledge and content from subject matter experts into interactive online courses. This is where your talent for design and technical edge shine through;
• Crafting professional and engaging experiences that easily justify the price we charge for a subscription.
• Throughout the year you manage the curriculums, lead development projects, upgrade your technical and training edge, and map out processes. With a reputation for effectiveness, you strategically advise on the next, best, educational practices.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

Ideally you have the following skills and experience, evidenced in a portfolio of self-paced e-Learning curriculums, storyboards, job aids, online tutorials, and assessments (we’d like to see it).

• Technical degree (e.g. Computer Science) or 5 yrs. relevant work experience in technical industry. You understand and talk technology with ease.
• 5+ years of experience in an instructional design/curriculum development role or similar, including significant experience in creating animations and developing hands-on/labs activities
• 3+ years of relevant experience in instructional design
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
• High proficiency with e-Learning video creation and support tools (such as Articulate and Camtasia)
• Comfortable operating in new domains with high ambiguity and little direction
• Self-starter, with proven experience of working on program/projects with a geographically dispersed team
• Solid project management skills including, planning work, managing details, keeping multiple tasks/projects on track, using time well, working with stakeholders, and doing whatever it takes to deliver reliable results
• Experience developing training content for localization to multiple languages
• Experience in developing certifications, exam blueprints, and question writing skills

This role can be performed virtually/remotely near any Canadian or US Solace office, such as: Ottawa, Toronto, New York City, San Francisco). Please note travel maybe required for course production, events, and team and group meetings (10-25%).
